How she's helped clients meet their business needs:

Several years ago a small business client came to Marina on a friend’s recommendation because they felt that their CPA was not ‘deducting enough expenses’ and they were paying too much in tax – common concern for growing small business.  When she looked at their tax return, she was shocked to find that their CPA reported their $3 mil dollar net income business as a self-employed schedule.  By moving the business to an S-corporation structure, they saved this client $150k per year.

An existing client was getting his business ready for sale and wasn’t sure if asset sale vs. stock sale was the way to go. By working through the numbers and designing a structure of selling the real estate part of the business first, and selling the remaining business as a stock sale, she saved the client $200k in tax.

Marina is involved in her community:

She is a treasurer of a small non-profit organization, Sarasota City Soccer Club, which is committed to making soccer affordable to underprivileged kids in the local community.

Inside The Mind Of...

  • What does "A Brighter Way" mean to you? Commitment to doing the best we can for our clients and the team. Coming up with new ideas of doing things better – better internal processes and procedures that help make our team function at their best and take pride in their work; learning better ways to help our clients pay less tax and run a better business.
  • What “bright idea” do you find yourself sharing over and over? I ask my team to treat every client’s tax return as if it was their own. They know they are making a difference in these clients’ lives by doing their very best work.
To my clients I am more than just a CPA, I am an advisor – someone they trust to ask for help and guidance in many areas of their business and personal financial lives. I strive to minimize my clients’ tax burden, while explaining the strategies in a way they can understand. If I can take the stress out of the tax planning and preparation process for them, I have done my job.
